RNC could release more information today on the recovery of a number of items from a walking trail near Cape Spear yesterday.
Officers converged on the scene late yesterday afternoon, assisted by the marine unit.
Police launched their investigation after what they called “suspicious property” was found on a walking trail between the parking lot at Cape Spear and Blackhead.
Police have not been able to confirm whether weapons were among the items recovered from the area.

Few details are immediately available, but the RNC say they are at Cape Spear investigating after what they’re calling “suspicious property” was located in the area.

Police won’t say what the nature of the property is at this time, but it was located in the area of walking trail that extends from the parking lot at Cape Spear towards Blackhead.
Officers were on the scene until just after 5 p.m. A boat with lights flashing was also seen canvassing the area. The RNC has not yet released any more information.
