It’s hoped that a little attention will go a long way in preserving a building that was once the crown jewel of the historic community of Greenspond in Bonavista North.
Linda White of the Greenspond Historical Society says the town’s iconic courthouse has fallen into disrepair and she’s launched a social media appeal in the hopes of securing funding for its restoration.
Help needed! The Court House in Greenspond is falling down! We had a plan for restoration but that has fallen through. All suggestions appreciated @ChurenceRogers @DerrickBragg pic.twitter.com/FiTE6UvGH2

White says the interior is unchanged from the time it was built over 120 years ago.
The building is now owned by the town, but it will require hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring it back up to its original splendor.
She says there have been repeated attempts to get a restoration project off the ground, but for one reason or other, they’ve fallen through.
This being a federal election year, she’s hoping to catch the attention of MP Churence Rogers, in hopes of securing funding for the building.
