Accident investigators are piecing together the circumstances surrounding two separate accidents on Pitts Memorial Drive yesterday morning that sent two women to hospital.
The first incident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. in the east bound lane of Pitts Memorial near the Blackhead overpass. A 46-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after she was apparently struck by a vehicle.
A short time later, just as reporters arrived on the scene, a second crash occurred, this time in the westbound lane.
An SUV struck a parked Mustang and flipped into the air, striking two other vehicles before coming to rest on its side in the highway.
A woman in that vehicle was also taken to hospital.
Based on what I can tell from other witnesses, the RNC cruiser and the mustang were stopped in the passing lane, westbound, as part of the investigation into the MVPA eastbound. The SUV approached the area, striking the mustang. @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/hKzojkrhKK
