All residents and a cat are safe after a late-night fire caused extensive damage to a home in Paradise.
Fire crews from St. John’s Regional arrived on scene shortly after 11:15, Sunday night.

Acting Platoon Chief Gerry O’Neill says they were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-unit home. Firefighters quickly knocked down flames on the exterior of the home, in order to move in and attack the blaze from the inside.
All residents were able to escape the building, however firefighters located a cat in the basement apartment. The animal was quickly reunited with its owner.

Damage to the home was extensive, with fire having made its way into the attic space.
The scene was turned over to the RNC for investigation after firefighters ensured there were no remaining hot spots.
There were no injuries.
