Thirty-four-year-old Justin Jennings is on trial once again in St. John’s Provincial Court, again accused of extortion.
The offence is alleged to have occurred May 27. Justin Jennings is accused of going to a home on Smithstone Crescent in Mount Pearl at about 5:30 p.m., threatening the homeowner to pay back $37,000 he owes a third party, or, Jennings tells the man, things would “get worse.”
A video taken from the doorstep was viewed at trial this morning.
In the video, a man who appears to be Justin Jennings rings the doorbell, and asks for a man.

Jennings tells the man “I’m going to give you until 7 p.m. to make a payment… I want a third of that 37,000,” or, Jennings says, “It will get very bad; I don’t want it to get very bad.”
Afterwards, Jennings gets back in a dark-coloured Audi SUV and leaves.
Jennings faces one count of extortion, and two court breaches.
Back in April, Jennings was acquitted in another extortion. In that case, the judge found the victim lied on the stand, and all charges were dropped.
