The defence has taken the stand at the child pornography trial of Thomas Patrick O’Grady in St. John’s Provincial Court.
The first witness to be called to the stand by the defence was Scott Frankland. Frankland is a retired RCMP officer who worked in computer forensics for eight years.

He has trained other officers in computer forensics, and says he has been involved in hundreds of child pornography investigations. He retired in 2016, and now works as a consultant for law firms.
Frankland has been a consultant for the defence in the Thomas O’Grady trial, and has been sitting alongside defence lawyer Rosellen Sullivan, offering advice along the way.
Frankland criticized how the investigation was carried out by police. He says there were devices in the house where O’Grady was staying that were never seized or looked at.
