Registered nurses have ratified an extension to their contract by an 85 per cent margin. Just over 2,700 of the 5,300 RNU members voted during the period from June 9 to the 11.
The Registered Nurses Union says the extension provides stability for their members, as well as their patients, and the health care system in uncertain times.
Union President Debbie Forward says they get a four per cent raise and a guarantee of no layoffs for budgetary reasons.
