The Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, provided clarification on how the recovery of a person hospitalized with the virus is determined.
Dr. Fitzgerald says people hospitalized with COVID-19 are considered recovered when they have resolution of their fever and respiratory symptoms plus when they have two consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
She says sometimes people will remain in hospital for other health-related reasons after they have recovered.
The provincial total remains at 261. To date, 14,717 people have been tested for the virus.
