The two Liberal leadership candidates are sparring over policy.
Liberal candidate Andrew Furey is assuring people across the province that he will help them get back to the sports and activities they love but his opponent, John Abbott, believes Furey’s priorities are mixed up.
John Abbott finds it mind-boggling that a doctor and candidate would place concerns of legal liability for sports associations ahead of the health of participants.
Furey's statement that he wants to protect sports organizations from being sued if a child gets COVID-19 is mind-boggling. My position is that nothing trumps the safety of children or the public. With the province in crisis, this is his priority? #nlpolihttps://t.co/fjsFyz9unT

Furey says he will protect amateur sports organizations from potential liability if someone contracts COVID-19.
Abbott says Furey’s plan to protect organizations from being sued as a top priority is alarming, and he would have expected better from a doctor.
The new leader and premier will be chosen August 3.
