Two men who were out on the water for the food fishery got more than they bargained for after their boat developed engine trouble and went adrift.
A 79-year-old from Port au Port East and a 50-year-old from Corner Brook were about 10 kilometres from shore in Bay St. George when the motor gave out just before noon on Sunday.
The Stephenville, Kippens, Port au Port Ground Search and Rescue made contact with the two men late that afternoon after the boat had run aground. About a half-hour later, the rescue team located the men and transported them back to Port Harmon. Their boat was towed back by a local fishing vessel.
RCMP credit the search volunteers and those aboard the fishing vessel for the successful outcome.
