The PC Opposition Critic for Land Resources is calling on the government to ensure that consultations are conducted on the Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Advisory Council’s plan.
The Protected Areas Plan for the island was released in late May and proposes to establish 24 protected areas, expand two protected areas and create six transitional reserves on the island.
Opposition Critic and MHA for the District of Exploits, Pleaman Forsey, says they are hearing from their constituents who want more information on the plan.
Forsey says they are encouraging the council to listen to all stakeholders for their feedback and to allow more extensive consultation before making final decisions.
