The investigation continues into a frightening incident on a popular walking trail reported to police Saturday.
A 24-year-old woman suffered injuries after being attacked from behind by an unknown man while she was walking the trail between Topsail Beach and Topsail Bluff.
The incident occurred between 6:00 and 6:30 on Saturday evening.
The suspect is described as in his fifties, about 5’8″ tall, and of average build with short, grey hair. He was wearing light-colored cargo shorts and a royal blue short-sleeved shirt.
RNC are asking anyone who uses the trail to do so in groups.
They’re asking anyone with information, who may have witnessed suspicious behavior, or who may have CCTV or Dash Cam footage from the general area around that time to contact them at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
