Fire crews responded to the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville between 2 and 2:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
Sources say crews were responding to an alarm and patients were asked to evacuate.
Clarenville RCMP were also on the scene.
People were able to return to the building shortly after 3 p.m.
