The by-election to fill the vacancy in Ward 2 in the capital city will take place on Tuesday, October 20.
Former Ward 2 councillor Hope Jamieson stepped down in July to take a position in the non-profit sector.
A number of people have already come forward to announce their intentions to run for the position on the council.
They include community activist Ophelia Ravencroft and curler Greg Smith.
Nominations officially open on Tuesday, September 15 and close on September 22.
Details on the vote by mail process will be released in the near future.
The by-election for the vacant Ward 2 Council seat will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Under the Municipal Elections Act, a by-election must be held within three months of the vacancy occurring.
