The Children’s Wish Foundation is getting a big boost with the help of a marathon 100 km run on the East Coast Trail.

Matthew Pike and his friend Adam Vickers are participating in the run as part of the month-long Hike for Wishes fundraising event in support of granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

The event is sponsored by the RCMP, Vale, and IG Wealth Management.

Pike says he and Vickers are leaving Brigus South at 10:00 tonight and will run the East Coast Trail to Fort Amherst with a goal of raising $10,000 that will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Vale.

Pike says they expect to complete the run in about 24 hours. He says they strategized to start the run at night so that they’re at their freshest and most alert in the dark.
