A significant amount of rain is on the way for parts of the province overnight and tomorrow.
Rainfall warnings have been issued for the south coast of the island, from Port aux Basques to the Burin Peninsula.
Environment Canada meteorologist, Julianna Paul, explains that those rainfall amounts could be near the triple digits. From Port Aux Basques to Connaigre they are expecting 60 to 80 mm, except upwards of 100 mm in some areas. The Burin Peninsula could see upwards of 50 mm.

Paul continues that the rain will start in Port Aux Basques late this afternoon and then move eastward, reaching the metro area by noon tomorrow.
Rainfall amounts for the St. John’s area are much lower, with between 10 and 20 mm expected.
Winds will be strong as well. Paul says gusts of around 70 km/h are expected in the wreckhouse, and around 60 km/h on the eastern portion of the island.
The meteorologist says the rain will taper off on the southwest coast by noon tomorrow, and by midnight on the Avalon.
