In July of this year, the city of St. John’s implemented a pedestrian-only zone in the ‘inner gut’ of Quidi Vidi Village for a trial run of six weeks.
The city has announced positive feedback from both residents and businesses in Quidi Vidi, with many noting that the pilot project improved safety in the area.
Residents are interested in seeing the project re-introduced in 2022, with some calling for it to be implemented full-time.
City council plans to review details of the project, and discuss potential improvements and changes that can be made before making a final decision about the next year.
