The Newfoundland Growlers are one win away from history as the Kelly Cup Finals shift back to St. John’s.
The Growlers managed to come away with one win in three close games in Toledo, Ohio, giving them a 3-2 series lead, and the opportunity to win the Kelly Cup on home ice.
One of the franchise owners, Dean MacDonald, says it may be a cliche but the team is a brotherhood – something he believes is a contributing factor to their success.
He says these kind of runs are special. Some magic needs to happen, and it has for this team. There are no individuals – it’s all team, as no one cares who scores the goals or blocks the shots. MacDonald says you can see that they really want the championship.
Mile One is already almost sold out as there are only single seats remaining for Tuesday night’s game 6.
Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. as the Growlers look to capture the Kelly Cup in their inaugural season.
Meanwhile, the Growlers returned home to great fan fare last night.
Only Newfoundlanders know how special it is to have someone you care about waiting at the bottom of the escalator.

Fans were waiting in the arrivals area of St. John’s International Airport with chants of “We Want the Cup”
Fans are encouraged to bring that noise and excitement to Tuesday’s Game 6 for what they are calling the “Biggest Kitchen Party” the ECHL has ever seen.
Those in attendance are encouraged to bring along their ugly sticks, horns & cowbells to cheer on the team.
