New federal marine personnel regulations are being introduced this year, something that’s been in the works for years.
Master mariner and the head of the Marine Institute’s School of Maritime Studies, Captain Kristopher Drodge, says the regulations will bring Canada in line with international standards for training, certification and watch-keeping.
“It does align us with our international colleagues and strengthen our regulations here,” says Drodge.
