A disturbing report on the Power’s Pond walking trail in Mount Pearl has municipal officials very concerned.

RNC are investigating after a walker noticed a group of boys on bikes on the trail on Wednesday. One of the boys appeared to be dragging a duck that had been tied by the neck to the back of his bike.

Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says it’s disturbing. He says the Power’s Pond Trail is one of the jewels in the city and is a haven for ducks and other wildlife.

He says wildlife needs to be left alone.

He’s encouraging parents to talk to their kids and for anyone with information to contact the RNC to help them in their investigation.
