As the capital city enters its fifth day under a state of emergency, taxi companies will be sending out their fleets to help vulnerable residents restock on groceries.
St. John’s has given some stores permission to open today between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., for people to get stocked up on groceries and important medications. The city has advised people should be ready to stock up on two days of supplies.
To help those who may not be able to get to a grocery store, a number of cab companies are offering a free shuttle service for seniors, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable people who have no transportation.
Putting a plan in place to get cars out today for those needing food supplies. Looking at a 10AM start. #stormageddon2020 Only for runs to the nearest grocery store. That way, we service more people. Stay tuned for updates!

The service will be running while grocery stores are open, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At least one, Jiffy Cabs, has expanded the service to include food banks and they’re calling on other cab companies to do the same.
