There are many dimensions of affordability and the impact it has on shared community.
That was one of the points made at a panel discussion hosted by Choices for Youth and Happy City St. John’s.
Executive Director of Choices for Youth, Sheldon Pollett, says since the State of Emergency, affordability is being looked at in a new light.
He says along with the effect on those who rely on food banks and other services, many people lost wages and have limited funds for essentials.
Pollett emphasizes the need to make ends meet among many people in the city.
He says a number of people have had conversations around the “obvious” parts of the community that have been affected by the State of Emergency.
One of the things people talked about besides emergency response was affordability in the community and what is taken for granted, he says.
