The provincial government was able to send help to New Brunswick to battle forest fires in that province, but could not accommodate a request from Quebec for two water bombers to fight a massive forest fire in the Lac St. Jean region.
The provincial government says a single air tanker was sent to New Brunswick June 20th, which returned on the 24th. Another water bomber was subsequently deployed to New Brunswick at that time.
A request from Quebec for two water bombers could not be accommodated at this time because of the risk of forest fire in this province with three water bombers remaining.
Government officials say the three remaining water bombers are adequate to address current risk in this province, and tankers deployed outside the province can be recalled at any time.
