Two people were arrested and one of them charged following a report of suspicious activity at the waste disposal site on Fogo Island.

RCMP were called after two people were seen at the waste transfer station on Stag Harbour Road after hours. The pair refused to leave when confronted by a representative of the property.

Police were provided with a picture of the pair and the vehicle they were driving.

Officers on patrol later located the vehicle in question and pulled it over.

A man and a teen matching the description of the suspects were arrested after suspected stolen property was found inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was released to appear in court at a later date on charges of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, and possession of break-in tools. The teen was released without charge.

RCMP say further charges are possible.
