The Premier continued his whirlwind farewell tour today with money for his hometown of Deer Lake.
Dwight Ball, federal minister Catherine McKenna, and other politicians were in the town to announce funding to extend water and wastewater infrastructure on Canal Road and Garden Road. The roadways will be upgraded with new curb and gutter. The total cost is about $2.2-million, with provincial and federal governments each putting up roughly $800,000.
That’s not all. The Premier also announced $5-million in provincial money to help get a proposed $25-million dairy farm in Deer Lake off the ground. The Real Dairy Company of Newfoundland, a new company consisting of 13 dairy farmers, will process milk into salted butter and other products. About nine jobs will be created.
