COVID-19 has left a swath of destruction in its wake in many sectors of the economy.
However, some businesses in the technology industry in the province have managed to survive and even thrive.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Technology and Innovation recently completed a Covid-19 Member Impact Survey and found that while 62 per cent of its members have experienced a decrease in revenue, 67 per cent of its members have also experienced new opportunities.
NATI CEO Paul Preston says companies are trying new products, moving into new sectors and expanding into new regions out of necessity.
Preston says the most significant challenge companies have in this province is finding the talent needed to grow their businesses. He says in a COVID-19 world many are recognizing that talent is everywhere, and no matter where people are based, they can work for a tech company in many respects.
