The military has been deployed today in an effort to help stock up local food banks that are struggling amid the global pandemic.
Soldiers from 37 Canadian Brigade Group Army Reserves are taking part in what’s been dubbed Operation Replenish.
They’re collecting food at Sobeys stores on Torbay Road, Kelsey Drive and at Howley Estates in St. John’s, as well as Colemans stores in Mount Pearl and on Newfoundland Drive, in support of the province’s food sharing association.
A similar effort is underway at stores in New Brunswick at the same time.
