A 29-year-old St. John’s man, accused in a sexual assault that occurred in the capital city last week, is being held in custody on remand pending a bail hearing October 2.
Stephen Hopkins was arrested after RNC received a report of a sexual assault in the Cowan Heights area at 9:00 Friday morning.
Hopkins is facing charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement, break and enter, break and enter to commit an indictable offense, failure to abide by probation orders, and failure to comply with a sex offender registration order.
He consented to remand pending his next court appearance.
Hopkins was charged with assault last year after reports of a man trying to touch women on the Long Pond trail in the capital city.
He was previously acquitted in connection with a stabbing on Frecker Drive in Cowan Heights in 2013
