Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will deliver an address to Canadians tonight following the Throne Speech.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Trudeau will speak about the ‘urgency of fighting COVID-19’ following reports of the second wave arriving in parts of the country.
As well, he is expected to discuss measures that government will take to rebuild the economy following massive shutdowns earlier this year.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam cautioned about a resurgence of COVID-19 cases across the country unless people take action to limit contact with others, and slow the spread of the virus.
However, federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu has indicated a second shutdown would not be likely.
The Prime Minister’s address is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 p.m. Newfoundland time. VOCM will carry the address live.
