Metrobus drivers will be taking a strike vote tomorrow. They had originally planned to do it on Sunday but had to move the date up because of hotel availability.
The Amalgamated Transit Union says its members are not being treated fairly as they do not receive the same benefits as city employees. For example, union president Paul Churchill says city employees get one week’s severance pay for every year of service whereas people at Metrobus get only one day’s severance for each year of service.
Churchill says they have gone from heroes to zeros. He says they were frontline all the way through COVID-19 and are still out there to this day. He feels his members are heroes for getting people to where they have to go.
