Over $100,000 in total was raised yesterday for two hospitals on the west coast through radiothons supported by VOCM Cares.
In the morning, a radiothon was held in support of a two-year program at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre in Port Aux Basques to purchase new critical care monitoring equipment. Over $45,000 was raised.
Then, yesterday afternoon a radiothon was held in support of purchasing new dialysis units at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville. Over $56,000 was raised for that cause.
The province has committed to matching the funds raised from the events up to $50,000 each.
VOCM Cares will be back at it again today with a radiothon in support of the Western Regional Hospital Foundation in Corner Brook.
