The Chair of Hospitality NL is expressing concerns over the province’s messaging as the tourism industry tries to recoup from what has been a devastating year.
$13-million has been allocated in the provincial budget for tourism marketing.
Chair of Hospitality NL, Steve Denty says that amount has been flat for several years and more money is needed in order to grow the industry.
He says we are sending “a very dangerous signal” to players around the country that the province is not open for business.”
Denty says how that money is spent will be a difficult conversation and we need to rectify that before we decide where the money will be spent.
