Newfoundland and Labrador reported another new case of COVID-19 on Sunday, and they say it’s linked to a man who died last week.
On Saturday it was revealed that a man on the west coast of the island died Thursday of the virus, only one day after arriving in Deer Lake by plane.
The man, in his 60s, flew from Central Africa to Toronto last Tuesday, continuing the next day to Newfoundland, where he died of the virus on Thursday. It brings the number of COVID-19-related deaths in the province to four.
On Sunday, officials reported one new case of COVID-19, which they say is linked to last week’s death. They say the new case is a woman who also arrived in Canada from Central Africa last week, is also in her 60s, and also lives on the west coast.
Officials say public health guidelines have been followed and the woman is self-isolating.
There are now four active cases of COVID-19 in the province.
