A local woman has launched a fundraiser to help a colourful character known to many as “the dancing flagperson.”
Rose Janes was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She is known by drivers throughout the metro region for her dancing while directing traffic in construction zones.
Co-worker Gina Greeley Elens wanted to set up a GoFundMe account to help alleviate Janes’ financial burden as she undergoes treatment. The campaign, however, charges a processing fee and Greeley Elens wanted all of the proceeds to go directly to Janes, so she’s encouraging the public to send a direct email transfer instead.
Greeley Elens says she was compelled to do something to help a woman who has put a lot of smiles on people’s faces; Janes, who is only 41 years old, “would be the first to help you.”
