A fire that had residents on edge in Heatherton—a town on the west coast—has been successfully extinguished.
Shane Hulan of the Bay St. George south volunteer fire department says crews from two fire departments responded and brought the fire under control.
A two-storey unoccupied home was destroyed by the fire. Otherwise, damage was limited to some melted siding on nearby homes.
Area residents had originally been asked to evacuate their homes and the main road was closed for a time.
