Work is slated to begin on a new mental health unit in Happy Valley-Goose Bay early next year.
Moss Development Corp was awarded a $5.1-million contract to construct the new unit at the Labrador Health Centre.
The extension will provide private rooms for six patients receiving mental health care, as well as a group therapy room.
An estimated 25 to 50 local workers will be hired for construction, according to estimates from Moss Development.
Work is expected to wrap up in 2022.
