Striking Dominion workers have relocated their secondary picket line from the Loblaw Distribution Centre in Donavoan’s to Weston Bakery on Bruce Street in Donovan’s.
Unifor says the bakery is owned by George Weston Ltd. which also operates Dominion’s parent company, Loblaw Ltd.
A court ruling on the injunction application filed by Loblaw to prevent picketing at the distribution centre is expected by lunchtime.
The union is asking government-appointed mediator Susan Whitten to bring the parties back to the negotiating table to settle the ongoing strike, which is now into its tenth week.

Earlier Story
A decision is coming today on a court injunction that could see striking Dominion workers removed from a picket line at the Loblaw Distribution Warehouse in Donovan’s Industrial Park.
Last Thursday, Judge Valerie Marshall reserved decision on the application until today, with Unifor stating members will remain on-site at least until that decision is made.
Workers have been on strike for over two months now, some of them fighting for better conditions.
Dawn Hanames has been working for Loblaw for over 30 years and says when she started out, getting a unionized job at a grocery store meant you were doing well for yourself, but that isn’t so much the case any longer.
She says the company has “eroded” their full-time jobs, leaving many with double the workload. Hanames says her resolve is unwavering and says the workers remain united.
A decision on the injunction will come down at 11 a.m.
