Eastern Health confirms an outbreak of norovirus at the Agnes Pratt Home which has affected 15 residents.
The health authority says precautions for a gastrointestinal outbreak were immediately put in place when it was identified late last week.
Eastern Health says while their long-term care facilities have robust cleaning policies and protocols, there is still an opportunity for cases to occur through people coming into contact with surfaces or each other.
Visitation at the home is now restricted and residents are restricted from leaving the affected unit while staff movement off the affected unit is limited.
There were no hospitalizations as a result. Affected residents are recovering and officials are hoping to lift precautions in the next few days.
