Choices for Youth has unveiled five new housing units constructed specifically to help youth in our province.
The project was designed to help young people both during the construction and after completion.
Through the social enterprise Impact Construction, the organization recruited young people to work on the project. They were given training and then worked alongside a team of contractors to build the units—and they did this literally from the ground up.

The former building at 48 Cashin Avenue was knocked down and the crew built the new structure, participating in every aspect from hammering the first nails into the boards to the last brushes of paint of the walls.
April, one of the workers on the project, touted the positive impacts of her experience, saying she is now going to school to be an electrician.

Now that it’s completed, the new building will be home to young families who need it most.
They’re hoping to have the first people move in on December first.
