The Federation of Labour is “outraged” by a recent Workplace NL announcement that it says takes money from the workers’ compensation injury fund to benefit employers.
Workplace NL this week announced that a 21 cent discount will continue for the next few years until a surplus in the fund is drawn down.
President Mary Shortall calls that outrageous. She says the Injury Fund is intended to assist and support injured workers and their families who are trying to recover from work-related injuries or illness.
What makes it even more infuriating according to Shortall, is that it comes in the midst of a statutory review of Workers’ Compensation. That, she says, seriously undermines the work of the Review Committee.
