Residents of Labrador are hunkering down in anticipation of a major snowstorm the likes of which are remarkably similar to Snowmageddon, that paralyzed the Northeast Avalon earlier this year.
Heavy snowfall and high winds are forecast to begin late today in the central and coastal regions of Labrador—continuing into Wednesday.
Heavy snow, blowing snow and zero visibility is expected for the interior, and along the coast including Cartwright, Rigolet, Hopedale and Makkovik.
About 30 cm is expected in the Upper Lake Melville area tonight, with another 40 to 50 cm tomorrow and winds gusting up to 90 km/h.
Residents are being asked to use caution and take steps to ensure their own personal safety.
