The Town of Paradise has landed much-needed funding for two major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
The money will go toward upgrading sewer mains and services in Evergreen Village, as well as an overhaul of a major lift station—which handles the bulk of the town’s raw sewage.
It was that lift station that malfunctioned last year, sending sewage raining down on a home on St. Thomas Line. The town later apologized and bought the property for $430,000. The house itself was later demolished.

Other projects triggered by the funding include 800 metres of water, sanitary and storm sewer mains and services on Ashgrove Drive and Willow Drive.
Ottawa is putting up $2-million for the work while the province and town are each contributing more than $1.5-million as part of the first phase of projects in the town.
Engineering work starts immediately with the installation of infrastructure scheduled for next spring.
