The RNC says its officers work hard every day to build relationships and break down barriers related to complex issues in the community.
The Constabulary was responding to the dissolution of the Safe Harbour Outreach Program’s liaison partnership with the RNC.
The St. John’s Status of Women Council and SHOP say they ended the partnership because it was not reciprocal.
They indicated in a release this week that they initiated the majority of partnership connections with the RNC, and have not seen “useful outcomes or adequate engagement from the RNC.”
In a written statement issued on Tuesday, Chief Joe Boland says the Constabulary is “entirely committed to protecting vulnerable people, and will continue” their work with community partners to identify best practices.
He says the RNC remains focused on providing a service that maintains the public trust and confidence that is “crucial to promoting safe and healthy communities.”
