A number of COVID outbreaks have been identified at worksites in Alberta, Manitoba, and Nunavut.
They include the IOL Kearl Wapasu Oil Sands site, the Keeyask Generating Station Project, the Suncor Firebag Oil Site, the Canadian Natural Resources Horizon Oil Sands Site, the Hope Bay Gold Mine, Syncrude’s Mildred Lake Oil Sands Site, and Suncor’s Base Plant.
Rotational workers from this province returning from those sites are asked to self-isolate on their property and stay physically distanced from other household members for 14 days.
Rotational workers at sites that are not experiencing an outbreak must still self-isolate and test on the seventh day after their return.
Premier Andrew Furey is asking companies that employ rotational workers to consider a month-on, month-off rotation.
He says doing so would “make a world of difference to the quality of their lives.”
