Two drivers in the Trinity-Conception area were arrested and charged with flight from police among other offences in two separate incidents last week.
RCMP attempted to pull over a Pontiac Sunfire on LT Stick Drive in Bay Roberts last Tuesday for a traffic violation. Instead of pulling over the car sped off, speeding through the community and passing other drivers on a residential street.
Police did not pursue the vehicle. On Monday, November 23, police arrested a Shearstown man in relation to the incident. He faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, and charges of driving without insurance, registration or a driver’s licence. The car was seized and impounded.
In a separate incident, police arrested a 32-year-old Tilton man at his home last Wednesday after a Pontiac G6 failed to pull over hours earlier. The man’s car was seized and impounded when it was found unoccupied in a secluded area of Spaniard’s Bay. The accused faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, driving without a valid licence and registration, and using false plates.
Both men will appear in court on January 20.
