Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can expect a delivery of Nova Scotia Christmas trees in the coming days.
That’s according to some local retailers who say deliveries should be made starting next week.
An estimated 20,000 cultivated Christmas trees are brought into Newfoundland and Labrador on a yearly basis—mostly from Nova Scotia.
There have been some indications that American demand for Nova Scotia trees had increased significantly, raising questions about availability, but a number of local stores tell VOCM News that trees are on their way.
Until recently, the cutting of wild trees still accounted for most of the local market.
The province says there are approximately 20 farms in Newfoundland and Labrador that cultivate balsam fir for the Christmas tree market.
