Health officials in the province are looking at the possibility of implementing rapid testing.
Nova Scotia and Ontario are two jurisdictions that have implemented the systems, which can produce testing results within hours or minutes of taking the test.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says those tests are being used in areas with community spread, but they are something that the province is looking into.
The province does have access to the rapid testing kits, but Dr. Fitzgerald says we need to make sure the tests are being used properly, that they can give us the best results, and that they are being deployed where they are needed.
