The Teachers’ Association is calling on the provincial government to be more transparent with parents, students and teachers when it comes to the decision-making process on school closures.
President Dean Ingram is reiterating concerns surrounding the possibility of community spread in the Harbour Breton area.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald is asking all residents of the Harbour Breton area to get tested for the virus after three recent cases in the community that cannot be linked to any known source.
Ingram says the NLTA is at a loss to understand how a community like Harbour Breton can be placed in a form of lock-down, while schools remain open.
Ingram says there is an inconsistency between public health precautions, compared to what he calls “lesser measures” in place for schools.
