The changes were made in the city budget last month but anyone who recently received a parking ticket in St. John’s will notice a big increase in fines.

Effective immediately, the fine for ordinary parking tickets have increased from $30 to $50, while the fine for violating the snow clearing bylaw has jumped from $55 to $75.

The cost of violating street cleaning regulations jumps from $30 to $40.

Any parking offence for which the fine was $50 has increased to $60 and any fine that was $60 is now $70.
