End Homelessness St. John’s (EHSJ) is spreading money among ten like-minded organizations to improve housing stability for our most vulnerable.
The $410,000 will be used to bolster activities that promote housing stability and reduce the risk of people experiencing homelessness from contracting COVID-19.
The ten groups include:
- CMHA-NL
- Connections for Seniors
- Elizabeth Fry Society of NL
- Empower, The Disability Resource Centre NL
- Home Again Furniture Bank
- Iris Kirby House
- John Howard Society of NL
- SHOP
- St. John’s Homestead Inc.
- Thrive
Doug Pawson, the executive director of End Homelessness St. John’s, says ensuring everyone has a home is the surest way to prevent the spread of the virus.
He says the money will be used for support services such as landlord-tenant mediation, to help people remain in their home, and to prevent evictions.
